The World Puppet Theater Festival of Charleville-Mézières is a major event for the recognition and visibility of the renewal of puppetry arts. It takes place during 10 days, every two years, transforming the city into a huge castelet. The 21st edition took place from September 17th to 26th, 2021. At each edition, more than 200 companies from the five continents, including the biggest names in puppetry arts, come to present their creations in Charleville-Mézières.
Today, the FMTM has become an international reference and the essential meeting place for the world of puppetry arts. The FMTM is also involved in the production of shows, with support to artists and administrative support.
From now on, it accompanies the artists in the realization of their project, notably by offering a support through residencies. It is a question at the same time of bringing a support to the process of research and creation in the field of the puppet arts, but also of making visible the presence of puppeteers artists in Charleville-Mézières, in order to install a permanence of the puppet in the city and on the territory.
