FRINGE FESTIVAL
The World Puppet Theater Festival welcome at each edition, around 350 internationals and French professionals. It is hold in 40 venues in Charleville-Mézières and takes over also the streets of the city.
We would like to offer an “acceptable” welcome (overview and good conditions to the companies that will produce themselves in the streets, squares and courtyards of Charleville-Mézières) and at the same time, we would like to diversify the proposals in the city. For these reasons, we can accept only around fifty applications where puppets find certain if not a central place.
During the ten days of the festival, we observe a real abundance of artists in the streets, what brings us to be very attentive about the cohabitation of different shows. That’s why we will ask you to estimate your sound power at best for saving nuisances.
As in 2011 edition, we keep our wish of proposing new venues and in particular to discover courses of the city with a key period in the district of Mohon relieving congestion in the very downtown area.
We remind you that as a participant of the Off Street Program you will play complementary (no fees) but you have the possibility to “pass the hat”. Also we inform you that so far, we are not able to take care of your accommodation. Royalties must be assumed by the companies.
The engagement of the festival is to make available a location in the public sphere and to promote shows by the mean of a program.
Concerning the technical aspect we can’t provide materiel, technical support crew or security, you must be autonomous. However, a stage manager in charge of the streets shows in the official program may be attentive where necessary and according to his availabilities, to the companies. Just like our volunteer’s team will implement all to accompany you.

The PAM (Arts of Puppetry Portal) offers free Internet consultation almost 30.000 documents (photographs, posters, videos, engravings, drawings, notes of stage direction, publications, thematic files…) which permit an exploration of the heritage and the contemporary creation of the arts of puppetry. The Internet user will discover this art under various aspects: ritual origins and symbolic power, presence on all the continents at all the periods, conception of the shows, construction of puppets, manipulation, role in the society, influences on the theatrical renovation or still interbreedings with the other arts...
